Trello Daily Board Digest

Email a summary of all Trello activity each morning without board-hopping.

Nora collects card movements, comments, and new additions across your Trello boards and emails a formatted digest. Stay informed without constant tab-switching.

Every weekday at 9 AM, Nora reads the action history across connected Trello boards to identify activity from the previous 24 hours. It extracts card movements between lists, completed checklist items, new comments, and newly added cards. It formats these events into a text digest, grouped by board and list, and sends it to the designated email address or Slack channel.

Project managers read the single summary message to understand project momentum before starting their day. They still decide when to intervene on blocked tasks, reply to specific comments, or follow up with assignees who missed due dates, but they no longer open multiple boards to manually check for updates.

Runs every weekday at 9 am using Trello, run by your Project Manager.

How it works

  1. Trigger on a schedule — The automation runs every weekday at 9 AM, or at the specific time instructed. It initiates a connection to the Trello API using the provided API key and token to begin polling the specified boards.
  2. Retrieve board action history — Nora reads the activity feed for each selected Trello board. It pulls the action history for the last 24 hours, searching for card creation, list movements, new comments, due date changes, and checklist completions.
  3. Filter and group events — The raw activity data is sorted by board and list. Nora filters out minor administrative changes, such as label color updates or cover image changes, focusing on progression and communication events like moved cards and new comments.
  4. Handle quiet periods — If a board has zero activity in the preceding 24 hours, Nora notes the board name and appends a no-activity tag rather than omitting it entirely. This confirms the board was checked and is simply dormant.
  5. Format the text digest — Nora compiles the grouped events into a structured summary. Each card mentioned includes its current list location, assignee, and relevant due dates. The layout is kept dense and scannable for quick reading.
  6. Deliver the daily message — The final digest is sent to the requested destination, usually a specified email address or a dedicated Slack channel. The message arrives just before the team begins their workday.

What this replaces

A project manager opens Trello and manually clicks through five or six different boards to see what changed since yesterday. They check the activity log, scan lists for cards that moved to a completed state, look for unread comments, and manually compile a mental list of what needs attention today.

Rough estimate rather than a measured figure: about 15 minutes a day, on the basis of checking 5 active boards and spending 3 minutes per board scanning activity feeds and noting changes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change which boards are included in the digest?

You tell Nora in plain language through your chat interface. If you start a new project and want that board added, or if you want to stop tracking an old one, you just send a message saying to add or remove the specific board. Nora updates its routine for the next run.

Can I get the digest at a different time or on weekends?

Yes. The schedule is completely customizable through conversation. If your team works weekends or you prefer an evening wrap-up instead of a morning brief, you can instruct Nora to change the delivery time. You just tell Nora to send the digest at your preferred time, and it adjusts the schedule.

What happens if someone edits a comment or card description?

Nora relies on the Trello action history API. Edits to existing comments or descriptions are recorded as update actions in Trello, but Nora filters the digest to focus on momentum, like new cards, list movements, and new comments. Minor text edits are ignored to keep the digest concise and focused on project progress.

Does Nora store all my Trello board data?

No. Nora reads the activity feed at the scheduled time, processes the events in memory to generate the text digest, and sends it. Because your instance is a dedicated single-tenant environment, the data processed during the run is isolated. It is not retained after the message is delivered.
