Auto-Request Product Reviews

Email customers 7 days post-purchase to request reviews, increasing review volume and trust signals

Shopify integration that sends review request emails at optimal timing (7 days after delivery), links to your review platform (Trustpilot, Judge.me, etc.), and tracks completion rate.

Nora monitors Shopify for orders that reached their estimated delivery date exactly seven days ago. It pulls the customer email, product name, and variant details, then composes a brief review request message. This email includes a direct link to the store's chosen review platform and is sent to the customer.

Support teams stop tracking delivery dates on spreadsheets and scheduling manual follow-ups. They focus on reading and replying to the reviews that come in, and handling customer service tickets. The operator still decides the tone of the request and which products or customer tags should be excluded from the campaign.

Runs 7 days after estimated delivery date using Shopify, run by your Customer Support.

How it works

  1. Monitor delivery status — Nora reads Shopify order records daily to identify shipments that were marked delivered exactly seven days ago. It checks the fulfillment status and the estimated delivery date fields to build a daily list of eligible customers.
  2. Filter exclusions and tags — Before drafting any message, Nora checks the customer profile in Shopify for specific tags. If a customer is tagged as a VIP, has an open refund, or has an active support ticket, Nora removes them from the day's review request list.
  3. Compose the request — Using the product and variant names from the original order, Nora writes a short email. The text is tailored to the specific item purchased, asking the customer about their experience with that exact product rather than sending a generic store-wide template.
  4. Generate the review link — Nora appends the direct URL for the store's review platform. If the platform supports product-specific review URLs, Nora constructs the link using the Shopify product ID to send the customer directly to the correct form.
  5. Handle missing contact details — If an order was placed using only a phone number and no email address is present on the Shopify customer record, Nora skips the review request. It logs the skipped order internally and moves to the next record.
  6. Send and log — Nora sends the email to the customer and adds a tag to their Shopify customer profile indicating that a review request was sent. This prevents duplicate requests if the customer places another order shortly after.

What this replaces

Support staff pull a weekly report of delivered Shopify orders and filter out returns or complaints. They copy customer emails into a mail client or marketing tool, paste the product names into a template, add the review link, and schedule the send. They then manually tag the customer in Shopify.

Rough estimate rather than a measured figure: about 2.5 hours a week, assuming 50 eligible orders and 3 minutes per order to verify status, draft the email, and update the customer record.

A worked example

A boutique coffee roaster shipping 200 bags a week asks Nora to send review requests 7 days after delivery. They specify that customers tagged wholesale or orders containing gift cards should be excluded.

Subject: How is your Ethiopian Yirgacheffe?

Hi Sarah,

Your order of the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Light Roast arrived about a week ago. We hope you are enjoying it.

If you have a minute, we would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts. Your feedback helps other coffee drinkers decide what to try next.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the number of days before the email goes out?

You tell Nora in your chat channel. If you want to wait 14 days instead of 7 to give customers more time to use the product, just send a message saying to change the review request delay to 14 days. Nora updates its schedule immediately and applies the new timing to all pending orders.

Can I exclude certain products from getting review requests?

Yes. You can tell Nora to ignore specific items, like digital downloads, gift cards, or clearance products. Once you mention the product names or collections in chat, Nora checks the order lines during its daily run and skips sending an email if it finds a match.

What happens if a customer complains instead of leaving a review?

The email comes from your standard support or outbound email address. If the customer replies directly to the review request with a complaint or a question, that reply goes straight into your normal inbox or helpdesk tool for your human support team to handle.

Will this send multiple requests to a customer who buys frequently?

Not unless you want it to. By default, Nora tags the Shopify customer profile after sending the first review request. On future runs, it reads the customer tags and skips anyone who already has the review tag, preventing repeat buyers from receiving too many emails.
