Weekly Campaign Performance Summary

Automatically track email campaign results every Monday morning

Mailchimp integration that pulls weekly campaign metrics (opens, clicks, unsubscribes, revenue) and sends a summary to your inbox. Nora monitors all active campaigns and consolidates performance data into a single digestible report.

Every Monday at 8:00 AM, Nora queries Mailchimp for all campaigns sent over the previous seven days. It pulls metrics for each send, extracting open rates, click rates, unsubscribe counts, and revenue impact. Nora identifies the highest and lowest performing campaigns, flags any that fall below your specified thresholds, and formats the data into an HTML summary. It then sends this consolidated report to the marketing team inbox via Gmail.

The marketing manager reviews a single email to assess weekly performance. They no longer manually export data from individual campaign pages. They use the summary to spot trends across segments, but they still decide which audiences to repeat and what content adjustments to make for future sends.

Runs weekly on monday at 8:00 am using Mailchimp and Gmail, run by your Marketing Manager.

How it works

  1. Triggers on Monday morning — At 8:00 AM every Monday, Nora initiates the reporting sequence. It connects to the Mailchimp API to locate all email campaigns dispatched during the previous seven days.
  2. Extracts campaign metrics — For each identified campaign, Nora pulls the performance reports. It reads open rates, click rates, total unsubscribes, and revenue figures, storing this data in memory for comparison.
  3. Identifies performance outliers — Nora compares the metrics across the week's sends to find the top three and bottom three campaigns. It flags campaigns that underperform against your stated baseline.
  4. Handles empty reporting periods — If no campaigns were sent in the past week, Nora skips the analysis. It sends a brief plain-text email noting the inactive period rather than generating an empty HTML template.
  5. Formats the HTML summary — The extracted data and flagged trends are compiled into a structured HTML email. Nora organises the content to highlight top performers and actionable audience insights.
  6. Delivers the inbox report — Nora uses the Gmail integration to send the final HTML report directly to the designated marketing team address. The thread is kept clean for team discussion.

What this replaces

Marketing teams currently log into Mailchimp every Monday to check the results of the previous week's sends. They click into each individual campaign report, write down the core metrics, compare them against historical performance, and manually type up a summary email to share with stakeholders.

Rough estimate rather than a measured figure: about one hour per week, assuming four to six campaigns requiring ten to fifteen minutes each to review, compare, and summarise.

A worked example

An independent bookstore sends four newsletters and two event alerts a week. They tell Nora to run a summary every Monday at 8:00 AM and flag any campaign with unusually low engagement.

Subject: Weekly Mailchimp Summary (Oct 2 - Oct 8)

Top Performer: 'Weekend Fiction Sale' (Sent Oct 5)
Opens: 4,210 | Clicks: 850 | Unsubscribes: 12 | Revenue: $1,420

Underperformer: 'Tuesday Author Q&A' (Sent Oct 3)
Opens: 1,105 | Clicks: 45 | Unsubscribes: 28 | Revenue: $0

Note: The Author Q&A campaign fell below your normal engagement baseline. Consider revising the subject line format for future weekday event announcements.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the day or time the report runs?

You can change the schedule at any time by asking Nora in your chat channel. If you decide a Friday afternoon summary works better than a Monday morning one, you just tell Nora to move the weekly reporting time. The cron schedule updates immediately without you needing to navigate a settings panel.

How does Nora know what counts as an underperforming campaign?

You define the baseline when you describe your requirements to Nora. You can specify a hard floor for open rates or tell Nora to compare campaigns against your historical average. If you want to adjust that threshold later, you simply instruct Nora in chat to use a new standard for future reports.

Does Nora send this report to external clients?

Nora sends the summary via your connected Gmail account to whichever address or alias you specify. If you want it sent directly to a client, you can instruct Nora to do so, but it is safer to have Nora send it to an internal marketing alias for review before the numbers are discussed externally.

What happens if Mailchimp introduces a new metric?

Nora reads the standard campaign reports exposed by the Mailchimp API, covering opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and revenue. If you want to track a different available metric, you ask Nora to include it. If the metric is supported by the API endpoint, Nora adjusts the HTML template to display it in the next run.
